Finally Finished the Granny Square Blanket!

I have really loved making this blanket, it has taken me a long time but I am so pleased with it, I even found the time to make a matching cushion too!!

I really hope Jenny loves these for her birthday as I have totally fallen in love with them!! It's easy to become addicted to the granny square x

I have been working every spare minute on my granny square blanket to get it finished for Jen's birthday. It is coming together really well and I am loving the colours, just need to get a move on and get it completed, hopefully that will be by next week!!

New Project - Crochet Birthday Blanket

For my cousins birthday I am making her a crochet granny square blanket, it is a special birthday after all - Jenny will be 30 and I know she loves crafting so I thought she would like a handmade blanket to keep her warm and snugly.

I picked some lovely autumy colours for this blanket as I know these are her favourite colours. I have maroon, cream, green and grey, and have decided to edge them all in lovely chocolate brown! So I have been busy making a few squares, I need to make 144 in total so need to get my skates on!!

I have decided the blanket will be 12 squares x 12 squares (plenty big enough for snuggles) and then I would like to finishing it off with some sort of edging which I not decided on yet! This is the biggest project I have ever worked on as I normally like little projects which I can finish quickly so I do not get too bored!! So must stay focused and dive into granny square production!!

I have seen lots of beautiful crochet bunting online, my favourite is on the Bunny Mummy blog so check it out and there is a lovely tutorial to follow too! So thought I would have a little experiment myself with great plans to hang some in my kitchen when complete. I love the colours they are making me feel really spingy!

Bright Granny Square Cushion Finished at Last!

I am really pleased I have finished this cushion, the colours are so bright, it really has cheered-up my kitchen bench and the magnolia corner of the kitchen! Finished off with the beautiful spotty buttons I purchased from http://www.lovepaperfish.com/

This cushion joins it's cushion friends on the bench, I just need to buy some foam now and make the seat pad and make a few more cushions so it is nice and comfy for sitting and contemplating life & eating cake!

Crochet Cushion Progress, Slow but Progress!

I keep picking this project up and putting it down (I think I good at multi-tasking working on many projects at the same time but actually it takes so long to get anything finished!!) I have so many beautiful crochet projects on the go - what is a girl to do?? I have crocheted the squares together for one side of my cushion. Note to self: Try finishing one project at a time - it might just work!

I thought I would crochet a different design for the other side of my cushion, using a different colour for row - all lovely and colourful to brighten up my kitchen bench! All that is left to do now is crochet the two together and then decide on which buttons to use!!

Hopefully I will get this finished some time soon!!
I have a busy weekend this weekend and unfortunately there is just no room for crafting :-(

Project Crochet Kitchen Bench

I purchased a beautiful bench from eBay when we moved into our new house for the kitchen and I keep promising to make some cushions and make it look more homely! At the moment it becomes a bit of a dumping ground for anything I cannot be bothered to find a home for!!

My thinking is it is a great bench to sit on and drink tea whilst gazing at the oven patiently waiting for yummy cakes to cook!! So this week I have started making a cushion cover, using up all my odd bits of stash and using bright colours to cheer up the magnolia corner.

At the weekend I am on a mission to find a piece of foam to make a seat cushion and then the next job will be to crochet some more squares or maybe even circles to cover it.

Crafty Christening Gifts Any Ideas?

Good afternoon, hope you are all having a crafty day!

I have a little dilema I would like a little help with, my best friend has asked me to be godmother to her twin girls in April and I would like to make them something they can keep, either knitted or crochet a present they can take with them on lifes journey. I have been thinking about a blanket for them both but wonder if anyone has seen anything special or could suggest any ideas?

Granny Square Crochet Hot Water Bottle Cover

I have been working hard to get this finished and although I am pleased with the results, I really wish I had used some brighter colours as I not really a big fan of pink!!

I made this by making 14 granny squares, I decided to crochet 8 together first (2 x 4) and then crocheted 4 together (2 x 2) so I could make a flap at the back and used 4 little pink buttons to close it so I can get the water bottle in and out to wash the cover. I left the top open so I can fill with hot water without removing the cover.

So I have added a little granny chic to my bedroom, on to my next project, Mmmm I wonder more granny squares maybe!

As I was getting ready for bed the other night, I looked at my hot waster bottle which was chillin out on my new owl pyjamas and I thought my poor little hot water bottle looked so sad! So I have set my next project to revive my hot water bottle cover and bring some granny square chic to the bedroom!

Granny Square Cushion Finished!

I am so very pleased with this cushion and I hope my friend Lucy will love it as much as I do :-). I have to admit I was not sure about using the hot pink to edge the cushion and to be honest I only used the pink because I ran out of the purple wool I was using and really did not want to buy another ball!!

Granny Circle Cushion - completed in the nick of time!

I have been crafting hard here in The Craft Attic this week to complete my granny circle cushion and I am pleased to say it is finished and I am a really happy bunny! Thank you again Lollipoptreelane for a fantastic tutorial.

I added 12 small beige buttons to complete my crochet cushion

So this cushion joins a granny square cushion on my sofa, I think they will be the best of friends and spend the rest of their lives joined by good friends and wine!

I am now feeling the need to make another so off to source some yummy wool in some brighter colours to make a couple for my kitchen, I have a lovely wooden bench in desperate need of some soft squidgy cushions for relaxing with tea and biscuits!

Inspired Granny Circle Cushion

Searching on the www for my next project The Craft Attic came accross this lovely blog by Lollipoptreelane with a post called Hooky How-To :: Granny Circle Cushion. So off I went to source a round cushion, which I purchased from Dunelm Mill and choosing wool in brown, beige and cream to match my home I have set out on a mission to start and finish a cusion this week before friends come round for dinner on saturday night - challenge The Craft Attic!

So Far I have produced one side, will update you later this week on my WIP!

Crochet Granny Square Slippers

So this weekend in The Craft Attic I decided to have a go at The Purl Bee tutorial for Granny Square Slippers, the slippers are so cute and the tutorial is really well written and easy to follow with lovely diagrams. Thank you The Purl Bee I am over the moon with my slippers!

My First Granny Square Cushion

I really wanted to make some granny squares and make something so I decided to make a granny square cushion and use up some of my stash! So this is what I did: I measured my cushion which was 15" x 15" and worked out the size and how many granny squares I needed to make. I decided as I was using chunky wool I wanted bigger squares so I got busy making12 basic granny squares (6 for each side) using scrummy chunky wool, in pink, lime, turquoise which I trimmed in navy blue.

I laid the squares out and was trying to decide how to connect them together and after some trials and errors decided to double crochet them together, which produced a lovely raised stitch.

I then completed the panel by adding two rounds of crochet so the panel was the right size for my cushion. I then double crocheted the two panels together - wrong sides together, so I got a really nice finish. Ta-da

Lady Seville Marmalade

Tis the season for the lovely Seville Oranges and yummy maramalde, so I set off to make Mr K and I a batch, thought I would make a few extras for friends and family!! So ta da lovely marmalade for the cupboard and I will deliver the rest this weekend, feeling very pleased with myself...Mr K then anounces he would quiet like some LIME marmalade...mmmm me thinks Mr K is a little cheeky!

New Year, More Crafting

So it's 2011 and I have made a news years resolution that I must blog and craft more! So I wish everyone out there a colourful 2011 filled with fantastic craftyness!

Lets get started, I have decided this year that I will really try hard and teach myself crochet, something which does not come naturally to a knitter!! There are some fantastic blogs which are truely inspirational with excellent tutorials so have been trying out a few granny sqaures for starters and very pleased with the results.

Felted Bag Project

I have just finished knitting a bucket bag which I have popped it in the washing machine to felt, I also made a little flower brooch too which I will add onto the bag later, most probably with a nice chunky wooden button! I can hear it crashing around in the washing machine! I get really excitied about felting and cannot wait to see what it turms out like!! Before picture below, watch this space...
